What are you reading, interested in reading, or buying?
I'm reading The New Jim Crow, and so far it has already blown my mind (I'm not too far into it). It's crazy how little I know about the justice/law system in general, and I am sure there is a reason behind that. Have any of you read it? I also have Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates, which made me cry a little bit.
Are you guys reading manga, fiction, non-fiction? I'd love some (history book) recommendations.

I'm reading the latest Girl With the Dragon Tattoo book. It's kinda slow for me. I'm more than halfway through and it keeps putting me to sleep. I'm hoping that it suddenly improves.

I enjoyed those books a lot. I will say that the end of the second book and most of the third were quite slow. I'm still not watching the movies though. I think I would be terrified by all the abuse and injuries that happened to Lisbeth.

Also, since the writer passed away, this one is written by someone else. The first movie was difficult to watch. I prefer the Swedish version to the American one. But I hear you. It was super unpleasant.

I didn't know another writer had a hand in the books. I thought Steig Larsson finished writing and published them shortly before his death! You learn something new everyday! Were the abuse scenes very graphic? A lot of people said not to watch them if you can't handle that. :/ MsAChase

I'm reading Y No Se Lo Trago La Tierra by Tomas Rivera. What is that about? The story of Tomas Rivera's life. It's all over the place right now in the beginning. It skips in between his early childhood on a farm, his life away at school and what I'm assuming is his life overseas in the military. It's very short however.

I can't remember the abuse scenes with Lisbeth tho. Larsson wrote the first 3, but this one is written by another guy. I'm not sure but I think there was a fight about publishing them after his death between his gf and his family.

Do you think it would be something I should read? MelaninMonroeMsAChase I could see a fight about posthumous publishing. I'm sure there were complications over royalties and whatnot, and Larsson may not have wanted them finished or published after his death without his hand in them. It really sucks when artists of any kind die right before or after their work is published.

Another book you should read? The Student Conductor. That book is so good. I'll be back later tonight to explain it a little bit better and give some more books.

I have about 40 pages left of The New Jim Crow, after that I'm going to move on to a history book about ancient African civilizations (which I cannot recall the name of right now), then I will try buying The Isis Papers.
