So I was watching the boy meets world episode where Cory cheats on Topanga by kissing another woman and it made think about the different forms of cheating. Some people were saying that Topanga was overreacting since it was "just a kiss". Do you think there are levels to cheating, as in kissing, touchy feely hugs, emotional cheating, intimacy, sex, etc? Or even exchanging flirty texts, sexting, meeting up in private, etc or is cheating cheating? I feel like I would be angry either way but I admit I'd be more willing to forgive if it was a one time kiss than if it was sex or even emotional cheating. What do you think?

This reminds me of the Sherlock S4 premiere last night...Watson started flirting via text with this woman he saw on the bus a few times. He did not reject her when she offered to give him her number despite the fact that he is married and has a 3 month old baby at home. He and his wife have only been married about two years, mind you, but I mean...
He should have rejected that woman up front (and that woman should have noticed and registered the presence of a ring).
All that said, I believe that in a way he cheated. Flirting, to me, is/can be a form of emotional cheating. If you supposedly "love" someone, why you are entertaining another woman/man? If I found out my S/O or husband did this, I wouldn't be red hot angry, but I'd be looking at him sideways for a few years..

I believe it's levels of cheating, in my opinion the highest level of cheating is emotional, because an emotional connection can be stronger than a sexual one, although sexual connections can sometimes have the consequence of catching an STD.

I believe that there are levels, but ya'll better than me because I would flip out at any level...even over something as small as a flirty text.

I agree. If I found out he was emotionally cheating, I'd be even more hurt/angry. Inevitably, it would lead to something physical anyways.

If I found out my S/O or husband did this, I wouldn't be red hot angry, but I'd be looking at him sideways for a few years.. See, and its those little things that lead to kissing, sex, etc. What do you need to be giving out your number for if it's not pertaining to business? He cheated. Point blank. No, I think I would be angry actually because I just cant think to myself that its just "giving a stranger my number". So, what else would've happened if it continued to go on and I wasn't aware?
This also makes me think of men who are purposefully dense when they meet women who clearly flirt with the knowledge that these men are taken. They use excuses like "oh, she's just a friend" and "I didn't even notice". How do you NOT notice when a woman is flirting with you? Some men need to learn to set boundaries. I also think some men don't mean to cheat but certainly like the attention.

I may not leave over flirting, but anything beyond that is grounds for a break up. Flirting only gets a pass, if it's a one off thing. If it's a pattern I'm leaving. Emotional, sex, kissing, etc I'm done.
