An Aleppo nurse wrote a suicide note before killing herself so Syrian soldiers could not 'savour' raping her, it has been reported.
In a letter apparently written for religious leaders and the Syrian opposition, the unnamed woman said conditions in the city were so bad that 'hell-fire will be worse than this'.
She then vowed to take her own life before 'animal' soldiers arrived 'because I do not want several members of the Assad Regime to savour raping me'.
There have been unverified reports that up to 20 women killed themselves in just one morning in the besieged city to avoid being subjected to sex attacks.
The heartbreaking note emerged as a truce aimed at safely evacuating thousands of civilians and rebel fighters from Aleppo came to a deadly end this morning.
She wrote: 'I am one of the woman in Aleppo who will soon be raped in just moments..there are no more weapons or men that can stand between us and the animals who are about to come called the 'country's army'.
The woman said she was killing herself 'because I do not want several members of the Assad Regime to savour raping me while just yesterday they were afraid to say the word 'Aleppo'.
She added that 'the Day of Resurrection has taken place in Aleppo and I don't think Hell-Fire will be worse than this.'
