It’s been 34 years since Michael Jackson’s history-making “Thriller” was released on Nov. 30, 1982, and it’s still the best-selling album of all-time. It spent nearly 2 1/2 years on the Billboard charts with 37 weeks at No. 1. In addition to being credited with breaking down racial barriers and transforming music videos, “Thriller” is one of those rare musical gems: almost every song could be a lead single.
“P.Y.T.,” “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Human Nature” are all iconic in their own right, and they’re among the album’s seven songs to chart in the Top 10. Though “Thriller” never made it to No. 1 — that honor went to “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” — the title song still might be the album’s most recognizable (it’s almost inescapable during Halloween).
But is it the best song on the album? Weigh in with your thoughts, and take our poll to determine which track deserves to be crowned “The King of ‘Thriller.”
