I agree with this. He was the best singer, and I don't even know all their songs like that! I agree with the embarrassment part too, because everyone assumed Harry would be the first (and maybe only) one to leave the group and have a successful solo career, not Zayn the supposed drug addict. Harry is cute, and I think he can sing (I'm not sure), but Zayn has that IT-factor. The rest of them do not. And yes. Unfortunately they all look depressed.

Yet they disguise themselves as "fans". Girl those ships! Just nasty...they really believe what they're writing about it is reality. Yeah, I have. Seeing him like that, seeing how sick and stressed he look, I just know there was some crazy ish going down in that band and those five years. I cringed whenever I would see pictures of him around that time. I'm glad he's gaining more weight now. Just goes to show how stressed he was

Harry was supposed to be   the star so it just made sense for him to be the one to leave. I did see an interview where someone asked harry where he saw himself in 5-10 years and this dude said "Hopefully, still in the band." Bands rarely last that long, especially boy bands so there was a bit of naiveté there, in my opinion. I think Harry's voice would be better and stronger if he would just take lessons. I think all of the boys would benefit from that. Harry could really have a gravelly, rock/indie type of sound if he would just work on that. I think Zayn always had that IT factor. I'm surprised they pushed Harry instead of him. Those boys better get out of Simon's control while they can...

I am wondering if he or the other boys have faced any backlash for Zayn's departure behind the scenes? Maybe that's why the other boys are distant? Either way it doesn't make sense (the rift between the boys) because it's not like the group's music had longevity or they were working under the best conditions. If I were them, I'd be happy as hell that he got away, and would follow suit as soon as I could! Simon Cowell really must be a complete devil off screen. He is looking good with the added weight. I'm glad he's eating, and his family is looking out for him too. That must have been the worst kind of visible stress I have seen a celebrity under in a while.

Harry and his people - I am assuming they had separate assistants and whatnot - didn't plan his exit correctly. But who knows, maybe he actually like the material and group in general. I really didn't think 1D would last this long, and even though they have made it this far, I don't think they have more than three or four years left. Did NSYNC even last that long? Harry has that "hipster rock star" thing going on, so he could promote the hell out of that and be in a completely separate market from Zayn, that way the media or fans comparing the two wouldn't be as over the top.

Was Zayn kind of like the token Negro of the group? It sounds like they used him as more of a prop than a voice, but that could be true for all of them since they didn't really have any creative input in the music.

I agree. A lot of them go to far...I saw a photoshopped picture of Kerry W. and the guy who plays Fitz. And they actually believe this is reality.

You took the words out of my mouth. Boy bands rarely ever last long, someone always leaves and as you said, their music didn't really have what it takes to remain "classic" or even current. Even JB had to change his style after some time. Now, I haven't listened to the new album and I have heard they're changing it up a bit. I don't trust Simon at all and I don't think those boys do either. I agree. But Zayn is obviously in a better, happier place now and it shows.

Someone on LSA actually posted tea that Harry is far more calculating and was mad that Zayn left first. Of course the OP said it was secondhand tea so who knows if it's true. Hm Harry is really "in" with young Hollywood however so maybe he's planting the seeds for an exit and a backup plan. I think they have, at most, a good five years left. And that's at most. I give them two to three years after this break. I could see Harry as rocker. He has the style down. Liam could be the next JT...he gives me that vibe especially if he's working with Juicy J. I have no idea what the other two will do, musically or otherwise.

Maybe. I think Zayn gave them that flair. Ironic thing is he was the one who was supposed to be different yet still fit in the background. He had the best voice, the muslim, the MOC. I haven't listened to all their songs except a few but they did sometimes give Zayn really good solos that would make the songs stand out. They always say they wrote the songs but I wonder if that was just a façade.
