So they revamped all the DC comics AGAIN. DC rebirth blah blah. I was initially excited about this because I hated the prior Catwoman comic. They screwed up her character royally in every way possible. Hell, they moved away from who Catwoman was and made her into this crime boss. WTF? When I heard about the DC "rebirth", I was thinking they realized their mistake and would return back to Catwoman of the early 2000s comics. No. Instead, they make Catwoman into a mass murderer with no remorse. A lot of people are up in arms that she even killed at all which I even agree with. When has Catwoman ever killed someone? If it was one or two under certain circumstances, I wouldn't have minded. But a mass murderer? With no remorse? Admitting to willingly killing those people? It's like they continue to destroy this character and the progress she's made. I hope that there's more to this. |

Basically yeah. It's a whole new character to be honest. Not even catwoman at this point. I'm holding out hope there's a point to this. She killed 200+ people, I believe in a terrorist attack. Girl.

Wait...200 people? Why? They gave Selina a new backstory as well, in which she spent a majority of her childhood in the Wayne Orphanage built by Bruce Wayne's parents. She had very fond memories of that place. These terrorists came and bombed the orphanage, symbolically killing away whatever semblance of good memories she had left. So in retaliation, she killed all 200+ members. See, this isn't in line with Catwoman's character however. How many times has she come close or considered killing an enemy/villain but ultimately didn't? She's even verbally stated she is against killing. In the older comics, Selina was visibly distraught when she found out she may have killed someone. Heroes are supposed to evolve but they aren't supposed to change, especially the basis of who they are and their morals. |

I'll be honest, I am not familiar with the comics, but Catwoman never struck me as a sadist. Maybe they are trying to turn her into a Joker type? Hopefully she doesn't snap and start killing for fun.

I'll be honest, I am not familiar with the comics, but Catwoman never struck me as a sadist. Maybe they are trying to turn her into a Joker type? Hopefully she doesn't snap and start killing for fun. I hope not. We already have a male and two female joker types. Hell the rogue's gallery is full of sadists. Catwoman was a unique character because she wasn't inherently good or bad. She toed the line for both. Lol its okay if you're not familiar. There aren't too many comics to pick from so its easy to start reading. |

Aren't there different universes within the comics? MelaninMonroe That's the stuff that confuses me and causes me to hesitate. I don't know where to start with any of them, and apparently the original DC/Marvel comics are hard to find copies of. |

I don't pay attention to that stuff and honestly, to me, they're "off to the side" stuff. Go on viewcomics.com. They have the comics in order on there. Catwoman, the volumes are pretty easy. It's Batman that I hate reading for. SO many volumes, comics, etc. The earlier comics aren't that hard to find depending on the comic. getcomics.com and viewcomics.com have some early ones. |
