I haven't watched the visual since Saturday. What do you think if the visual? The album? What are your fav songs? It's not what I expected. For some reason I thought the album would be pro-black. More songs like Formation. That was disappointing.

I love Lemonade but I don't want to spend $17.99 on it because I don't really care for the visuals. I can't imagine myself watching it again unlike the videos for self-titled
I was just wondering If there were no visuals would people say that Lemonade was telling the story of a African American woman and her struggles?

I agree. I can't see myself watching the visual again. No, nobody would say that if it wasn't for the visual. Just listening to album you would never get that from the lyrics. It's a good album, but I'm still disappointed that the lyrical content isn't pro-black. She still played it safe in that regard.

I paid illegally downloaded 6 Inch with no shame after Lemonade first premiered.
I played that song alot, but didn't really care for any other song.

Someone agrees with me. I remember when formation came out, everyone was going crazy over the "pro black" "controversial" lyrics and I was just sitting there wondering where the song ever gave off that vibe. I didn't any kind of pro black connotation from the lyrics. I didn't even get it from the Superbowl performance, save for the Black Panther outfits and the "X' they formed. They said formation was supposed to be a nod to Malcolm X but I didn't see it.

"When he f*** me good I take his ass to red lobster" and call them "pro-black".....we're in danger LOL As I stated previously, ole girl has a phenomenal team behind her, because not one song on the album was pro-black. Other artists should take notes from that deception.

"I like my baby heir with baby hairs and Afros" - sounds pro-black to me
"I like my negro nose with Jackson five nostrils" - sounds pro black to me
I don't see how we are in trouble for a married woman to say when her husband fucks her good she takes his ass to red lobster.
I still see the song as being pro-black, especially when you add in the Malcolm X part. It may not be super pro black, but to me it's still pro black.
White people were angry over the video and the lyrical content. In particular negro nose and the police car. To me that should tell you it was pro black enough to piss them off. They talked about how it was racist to talk about negro noses and what if we made songs glorifying white features, and well we all know how they felt about watching that cop car sink. I don't use white people as the barometer of what is pro-black and what isn't, I just find it odd how they were so pissed off over this song and video yet some black people (not just y'all other people feel the same way on ig and fb) say it's not pro black. Usually when they think something is racist or reverse racist...we are typically in agreement that it's just problack.

Honestly, I tuned in to the visual halfway through (and cried when they showed the mothers of victims of police brutality). What I saw was interesting. Haven't listened to the album though lol. I didn't want to pirate.
