We can make this into a general Disney Movie Thread too, but I mainly wanted to start out with favorite movies.
I like The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Hercules (because of the sistas in it!), Meet the Robinsons (which was kind of depressing), The Incredibles, all of the Toy Story movies, Bambi and some many others I can't recall right now. Bambi always makes me incredibly sad though..I used to adore Mary Poppins, but you can only watch that every few years. I disliked Frozen, the live-action Cinderella and Maleficient movies. I'm in between like and dislike with The Princess and the Frog. They did Tiana horribly wrong, in my opinion.
I'm in the process of watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame because someone said many of the issues brought up - especially in Esmeralda's case - are very relevant to Black people. Let me tell you...not even 10 minutes in and my eyes started watering up. For that to be a kids' movie and all those adult themes are displayed..There is one scene where Frollo was rubbing up on Esmeralda and she made a comment saying she knew what he was thinking. Lord! After this I'm gonna try to see Atlantis: The Lost World. It seems Disney has a lot of underrated films and cartoons, and a lot of them are about injustice or POC.
Here's a full list of Disney's movie roster if you need a refresher: www.disneymovieslist.com/disney-movies.asp
