I did not even realize this season started. AND it is the last season :bow-down: :bow-down: :bow-down: :bow-down: ! Thank you, Jesus. I am more excited about the season being over than the actual talent.
Perhaps I will catch it on televison this coming Wednesday. I know I missed most of the entertaining auditions already. Is anyone watching though?

I stopped watching that years ago. I think shows like The Voice have taken over. American Idol is like myspace now.

That is the perfect analogy  Also, general talent shows seemed to have gained more appeal. because they showcase more talent. People want to see diversity, and AI has run it's course. The novelty has worn off.

I don't watch Idol or The Voice, so I can't really say anything. I'm just glad Idol is going off the air because they still kept lifting people's hopes and dreams into the Earth's atmosphere, only for careers to go no where.

What happened to a lot of those winners? I don't even hear about Kelly Clarkson anymore and she was the most recognized Idol winner. Another black woman won (not Fantasia); where is she at? It is pretty disappointing when you think about this.

Minimal It is. These kinds of shows get the winners and contestants so hyped up and hopeful for careers in show business. It seems like they don't actually have contracts lined up for these people by the time they win, which is pretty effed up to me. Sorry to be a negative Nancy in this thread.

Not being a negative Nancy, it is just the reality of it all. People who get on these shows are blinded by (the possibility of) fame. The contract they hope to gain in the end is a mirage. For those few who were did possess some talent, all of their effort spent on the show seems wasted. I am sure if they networked with the right people, their careers would not have crashed and burned so quickly. But the music industry is pretty tough anyway. It is all about marketing. If you don't fit what is currently advertised, or if you don't want to conform, you're SOL.
