Straight Outta Compton may not have gotten many Oscar nominations, but that won't keep O'Shea Jackson Jr. away from the big show.

Jackson, who plays his dad Ice Cube in the Universal box office hit, told me at the Critics' Choice Awards, "The voters, they're entitled to their own opinions, just like you and I.

"That doesn't mean Straight Outta Compton is not being celebrated," he continued. "We are still up for an award for original screenplay and I will be there to represent Straight Outta Compton."

Over the weekend, Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith announced they're planning on boycotting the Academy Awards because the list of nominees lacked diversity. In fact, Jackson's name was frequently mentioned when discussing black actors who could have easily been nominated.

"Just back to the drawing board," Jackson said. "They'll be there for years to come and let's make sure we are, too."
