Hey ladies,
I've been really trying to simplify my hair regimen. I've found that my low-porosity, protein-sensitive and coarse hair (4a/4b) hair works best when I leave it alone. I used to do cowash consistently, LOC everyday, I tried so many gimmicks and my hair said "nah!" Now all I do is shampoo/cleanse, deep condition, apply leave-in, let my hair mostly dry, and apply some shea butter. I keep my hair stretched and ends tucked.
I really love As I Am Leave-in but it's a bit expensive and I wanted ways to stretch it. Kimmaytube' is a natural hair guru from the older days of youtube and her leave-in recipe is still a favorite of naturals. Her leave in recipe is:
-2 tablespoons of your favorite leave in (she used Kinky Curly Knot Today, I used As I Am)
-2 tablespoons of Aloe Vera Juice (I get a gallon from Trader Joe's for $7 and it lasts forever. I also drink some in smoothies)
-2 teaspoons of castor oil
-2 teaspoons of jojoba oil (I used almond oil)
This is highly moisturizing and it's a way to stretch your leave-in conditioner. Try it if you're still looking for something!
