Goldfish are difficult to take care of. I do not know why they are considered as starter pets, especially for children. I always had issues with regulating the temperature in the tank. Any slight dip or increase and my goldfish would die. 

Mines never lasted longer than 2 weeks.

Bettas are much more hardy. You just cannot keep more than 1 male in a tank w/o a divider =S Gets kind of boring just having one. 

Admin - They'll eventually attack the babies, sadly =/ They are very territorial.

They are beautiful fish though. Mines was white with sky blue stripes in it's tail.

I only fed my betta fish every other day.

I think mines passed away form old age. He was roughly 3 years old (they are nearly a year in the pet stores). He got a nasty disease and we tried treating him for 2 weeks =S I feel bad for euthanizing him, because my mom wanted him to die on it's own. But the fish was in my room, and I hate looking at it suffering like that.

Pretty Much  :laughing:  They are kind of crazy. We would place a plastic fish in his tank for a minute or two once a week, and he would attack it all the time. Not to irritate him, but keep him stimulated. 

My fish had dropsy. Once they get dropsy, they are pretty much done for =S

We got two dogs, one looks like an ewok, the other the Taco Bell dog's French cousin if that makes sense. We had a few cats, one being OG Brody, that cat was bout it

Dropsy is a bacterial infection that caused the fish's abdomen to swell up

They are just territorial. I have no idea how these little fish survive in the wild when they be trying to claim so much area to themselves.
